Antrojo pasaulinio karo poveikis JAV ekonomikai

Čia anksčiausiai, 1945 m., pagaminta atominė bomba, 1946 m. sukurtas kompiuteris, o 1948 m. – pirmasis tranzistorius.
Nuo 1945 m. JAV vaidino pagrindinį ekonominį ir techninį vaidmenį pasaulyje, tačiau turėjo karinį konkurentą, kitą supervalstybę – SSRS.
JAV vaidmuo pasaulio ekonomikoje
Pokario metais JAV išliko pirmaujančia pasaulio valstybe. 1990 m. pabaigoje jos pagamino 25 proc. pasaulio pramonės produkcijos. Amerikiečiai augino 20 proc. pasaulio kviečių. JAV teko 50 proc. pasaulio grūdų eksporto. 1995 m. šalis pirmavo užsienio investicijomis.
Iš 500 didžiųjų pasaulio bankų 25 proc. priklauso JAV. Didelės amerikiečių korporacijos „General Motors“, „Texaco“, „Boeing“ ir kt. žinomos pasaulyje. Prekės su etikete „Made in USA“ kokybiškos ir vertinamos pasaulio rinkoje. Automobilių pramonė laikoma visos JAV ekonomikos stabilumo rodikliu. 1982 m. pasaulyje buvo 331 mln. lengvųjų automobilių, iš jų 123 mln. Jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose. Amerikiečiai diktuoja pasauliui aviacijos, raketų, erdvėlaivių modelius. Daugiau kaip 50 proc. pasaulio skaičiavimo mašinų rinkų kontroliuoja JAV kompanijos, kurių didžiausia – „IBM“. Ekonomikos progresui didelę įtaką daro mokslinių tyrimų skatinimas, išradimų diegimas į gamybą, imlumas naujovėms. JAV turtinga gamtinių išteklių, turi gerų rinkų gretimose, labiau atsilikusiose šalyse.
Apie pusę JAV eksporto sudarė mašinos ir įrengimai, 2/3 importo – žaliavos, kuras ir pusfabrikačiai. Taupydama savo atsargas, JAV įsiveža apie 30 proc. naftos. 1974-1975 m. OPEC šalims padidinus naftos kainas, JAV ištiko didžiausia po Antrojo pasaulinio karo ekonominė krizė. Pramonės gamyba sumažėjo beveik 13,9 proc., didėjo infliacija, nedarbas, sumažėjo JAV dalis pasaulio prekyboje. Konkurencinėje kovoje su ES ir Japonija amerikiečių kompanijos prarasdavo automobilių, plieno, staklių rinkas. Siekdama sustiprinti savo pozicijas prekybinėse varžybose su ES ir Japonija bei išsaugoti konkurenciją vidaus ir pasaulinėje rinkoje, JAV ėmėsi protekcionistinių priemonių: padidino muitus už įvežamą plieną iš ES ir kitų šalių, uždraudė valstybiniam sektoriui pirkti telekomunikacijų įrangą ir energetikos produkciją iš ES. 1993 m. JAV, Kanada ir Meksika pasirašė trišalę laisvosios prekybos sutartį ir sukūrė didžiausią pasaulyje laisvosios prekybos zoną.
1992 m. JAV prasidėjo pakilimo etapas. Tai rodo ir pagrindiniai šalies rodikliai. BNP augimas 1994-1995 m. sudarė daugiau kaip 4 proc., nedarbo lygis 1995 m. sumažėjo iki 5 proc., metinė infliacija 1995 m. sudarė 3,3 proc.
Vidaus problemos ir jų sprendimai

Svarbi JAV problema buvo juodaodžių segregacija. Prasidėjo juodųjų judėjimas už rasinės nelygybės panaikinimą. 1954 m. JAV Aukščiausiasis Teismas paskelbė, kad baltųjų ir juodųjų atskyrimas mokyklose yra nesuderinamas su Konstitucija. Tačiau rasinė diskriminacija išliko.
Daug reikšmingų JAV politinio gyvenimo įvykių susiję su jauniausio šalies istorijoje prezidento D. F. Kenedžio vardu. 1961 m. prezidentas D. F. Kenedis paskelbė naują politinį kursą: kovoti prieš skurdą, korupciją ir mafiją, segregaciją, įgyvendinti kosmines NASA programas „Gemini“ ir „Apollo“. 1963 m., nespėjęs įgyvendinti savo sumanymų, D. F. Kenedis buvo nušautas Dalaso mieste,
Teksaso valstijoje. Prezidentu tapęs L. B. Džonsonas tęsė D. F. Kenedžio programą, tačiau karas Vietname ir kilęs juodųjų judėjimas kėlė daug naujų problemų. Dėl Vietnamo karo kilo masiniai jaunimo ir studentų protestai. Jauni vyrai atsisakydavo tarnauti kariuomenėje, palikdavo savo darbo vietas ir vykdavo į užsienį.
1964 m. L. B. Džonsono administracija priėmė „Piliečių teisių įstatymą“, draudžiantį bet kokią diskriminaciją.
Įstatymas neišsprendė miestų getuose gyvenančių spalvotųjų socialinių problemų. Jie reikalavo imtis griežtų priemonių socialinėms ir ekonominėms gyvenimo sąlygoms pagerinti.

XX a. 9-ąjį dešimtmetį Jungtines Amerikos Valstijas toliau slėgė neigiamas užsienio prekybos balansas, didelis valstybės biudžeto deficitas, nusikalstamumas ir benamių skaičius, švietimo ir sveikatos apsaugos problemos, nelegali imigracija iš Meksikos. 1993 m. prezidentas B. Klintonas, siekdamas sumažinti valstybės biudžeto deficitą, padidino didžiausias pajamas gaunančių gyventojų mokesčius, pakėlė benzino kainą, įvedė naują tabako ir alkoholio mokestį.

Kiti – izoliacionistai – priešinasi NATO plėtrai ir mano, kad JAV įsipareigojimai Europai turi sumažėti.
2001 m. rugsėjo 11 d. prieš JAV buvo įvykdyti teroro aktai, nusinešę tūkstančius žmonių gyvybių. Teroristai užgrobtais keleiviniais lėktuvais atakavo Pasaulio prekybos centrą Niujorke ir jį susprogdino. Vašingtone buvo sugriauta dalis Pentagono pastato. Teroro aktus įvykdė O. bin Ladeno vadovaujamos organizacijos „Al Qaeda“ islamo fundamentalistai. Šį įvykį JAV palygino su istoriniu Perl Harboro užpuolimu, pažadėdama atkeršyti, surasti ir nubausti kaltininkus. 2001 m. rugsėjo 11 d. įvykiai pakeitė JAV vykdomą užsienio politiką.
2001 m. spalio-gruodžio mėn. JAV vadovaujama koalicija nušalino nuo valdžios talibų režimą ir sutriuškino „Al Qaedos“ teroristų tinklą Afganistane. JAV pradėjo labiau remti NATO, kaip tam tikros saugumo zonos, plėtros procesą. 2003 kovo mėn. pradėtas karas prieš Iraką, kuriuo JAV siekia nušalinti diktatorišką S.
